Michael Charlesworth, President of Loughborough Beacon Rotary Club, visited our Shed this morning and presented us with a cheque for £1000 raised through the efforts of their satellite club Jubilee. A big THANK YOU from all of us.
The Rotary Club recognise the important role The Shed plays in combating loneliness and social isolation amongst older residents, many of who do not have facilities for making things at home or a garden to potter in. Making articles from wood or clay is a really satisfying activity, especially when you can share ideas and knowledge with like-minded souls. But a well-equipped Shed like ours requires funding. So we are very grateful to the members of Loughborough Jubilee Rotary Club for their support. Loughborough Beacon Rotary Club website >>
We had a stall at Loughborough Christmas Charity Market on Sunday 24 November. We sold items made by Men and Women in Sheds, Loughborough, a lot of them were made using reclaimed and recycled materials. We made over £400 towards the cost of keeping the Shed open.
