Charnwood Shed – Loughborough
During the lockdown we were still able to pop in and water the garden and plant up a few thing. It has flourished and provides fresh veg – and grapes – and is a quiet place just to sit and chat.
Seedlings are started off in the greenhouse – which was made from empty plastic water bottles and bamboos.
Trish and I are looking forward to the reopening of the Shed. We have now been going for almost 3 years and miss the company and support we get from all the wonderful Shed community. This is a picture of the last project we worked on together to raise funds for the Shed. We had lots of help from Trevor, who made sure we ‘did it right’!
Due to the Covid situation we were unable to draw the raffle on April 7th as intended but we have finally done it. Susie will be delivering the prizes in the next few days.
Prizes:
!st Prize….A Regency Hamper (Downton Hamper with red wine) Blue ticket 279
2nd Prize…M&S Bottle of Merlot Blue ticket 347
3rd Prize…M&S Belgian collection chocolate biscuits. Yellow ticket 452
Thank you to everyone who contributed, we made over £100 for the shed!
It’s Tuesday and I’m missing my fix – my usual weekly session at Men and Women in Sheds in Loughborough.
Owen and Shedders have been working hard to get the Shed Covid-safe so hopefully it will open again soon.
Pottering around my garden at home I see some of the things I made at The Shed:
Also made several planters. I have a long list of other items that I’ll be creating as soon as we get back!
Raffle for bumper Easter basket full of goodies!
The raffle draw will be held after the Coronovirus lockdown finishes – so hang onto your tickets!
We’re selling things we have made at The Charnwood Shed. Wood and ceramic items including bird nesting boxes, bug hotels, bowls, etc.

Michael Charlesworth, President of Loughborough Beacon Rotary Club, visited our Shed this morning and presented us with a cheque for £1000 raised through the efforts of their satellite club Jubilee. A big THANK YOU from all of us.
The Rotary Club recognise the important role The Shed plays in combating loneliness and social isolation amongst older residents, many of who do not have facilities for making things at home or a garden to potter in. Making articles from wood or clay is a really satisfying activity, especially when you can share ideas and knowledge with like-minded souls. But a well-equipped Shed like ours requires funding. So we are very grateful to the members of Loughborough Jubilee Rotary Club for their support.

We had a stall at Loughborough Christmas Charity Market on Sunday 24 November. We sold items made by Men and Women in Sheds, Loughborough, a lot of them were made using reclaimed and recycled materials. We made over £400 towards the cost of keeping the Shed open.
